Bush Ad: Edwards Not 1st Choice; New TV Commercial Says John McCain Was Kerry's First Choice

I accept that Bush/Cheney need to run on the "War on Terra" theme and that this theme means they will talk about "experience", "tough choices", "Leadership" and etc.
These concepts have to be demonstrated with seriousness and at opportune times.
That said, this ad and their first tactic is childish. It's probably more to irritate Kerry than to influence voters - Kerry doesn't irritate. It's a waste of a message and while the press will chase this, they will also find a catchy comeback: McCain was Bush's first choice for VP in 2000. GW Bush was McCain's second choice for President.
