The Uneven Even-Handed NYTimes

her

A Sympathetic Picture for a Kiss-Ass NYTimes Story.

NYTimes get's it wrong
It's difficult to understand how a position only 1 out of 5 people support is treated so mainstream and even handed. What is clearly a disaster for the GOP is called "A Collision of Disparate Forces May Be Reshaping U.S. Law".
But her [Terri] legacy may be that she brought an intense dimension - the issue of death and dying - to the battle over what President Bush calls "the culture of life."
1 of 5 people agreed with Delay/Bush/Santorum. This is the moment when people see lunacy has taken over the GOP.
The case also fueled conservatives' anger over what they regarded as a runaway judiciary, laying the groundwork for future fights over Mr. Bush's judicial nominees.

"It shows just how much power the courts have usurped from the legislative and executive branches," Mr. Perkins said, "that they now hold within their hands the power of life and death."
These runaway judges are conservative, GOP appointed judges. That fact goes unreported.

This is clearly a watershed moment for less than 20% of the US population but you wouldn't know. The polls and mainstream reaction to this freakshow is underrepresented and underreported.

This fanatical minority is bullying the press into even-handed reporting of a lop-sided event. The unevenness of this even-handed press coverage is irrelevant. The "culture of life" will destroy the GOP - it is a phony name for the politics of fanatical bigots.

The real, unreported problem for the GOP is that the next high profile judicial nomination *has* to be a favorite of these lunatics. Eventually, the GOP has to excise them - it will be an ugly
fight.

nuts
It's showtime
