Conserving liberalism

I am an intellectual, not a
'highly educated and
secular university town elite
who follows Howard Dean and
believes Bush hatred and
stridency are
the outward signs of righteousness'
The rejection of the conservative agenda means we the people are conservative. We are conserving the programs and policies established and advocated by liberals, hence we're actually not defending liberal or progressive policies, but functioning conservatives.
BoBo says:What a gem. The strident GOP Congress and White House alienated the US public when they used poor Terri Schiavo and a phony self-righteousness too raise money and rally their political base. They fostered hate against her husband for supporting her wishes and state and federal judges for not ruling their way. The continue to use Gay Hating as a primary tool to win local elections and yet Bobo says it's the Democrats who strident and hateful and the Democrats who are alienating the American people.
It's become increasingly clear that the Republicans are bumping into some limits.
...
Then there's the lavish public spending, which offends the conservative sensibility. Then there is the talk of going to the nuclear option on judges' confirmations, which smacks of the radical confrontationalism that led to last decade's government shutdown. All in all, intellectual conservatism is bumping up against dispositional conservatism.
...
This does not mean good news for Democrats. That party is at risk of going into a death spiral. The Democrats lost white working class voters by 23 percentage points in the last election, and now the party is being led by people who are guaranteed to alienate those voters even more: the highly educated and secular university town elites who follow Howard Dean and believe Bush hatred and stridency are the outward signs of righteousness.
And is there any difference between highly educated and intellectual? Maybe highly educated people have college degrees whereas an intellectual is a self anointed "thinker" unencumbered by reality.
Lastly, why do working class white votes count more than non-white or non-working class? They don't and BoBo (and the GOP) should stop playing the race card. Quit while you're ahead because this working-class demographic is a shirking fraction of the USA population.
