It's not the same Martin

Slim-Fast drops Goldberg over Bush puns
By Martin Kasindorf, USA TODAY

“Slim-fact's parting ways with Goldberg over political outspokenness is reminiscent of the Florida Citrus Commission's firing of singer Anita Bryant as a celebrity hawker of orange juice in 1977. Bryant had led opposition to a Miami-Dade County ordinance banning discrimination against gays.”

Criticizing an incumbent politician during an American election fundraiser is not the same as publicly and persistently campaigning to remove the civil rights of an entire demographic of citizens and support discrimination against that demographic. What a terrible and confused comparison.

Childish

Bush Ad: Edwards Not 1st Choice; New TV Commercial Says John McCain Was Kerry's First Choice

I accept that Bush/Cheney need to run on the "War on Terra" theme and that this theme means they will talk about "experience", "tough choices", "Leadership" and etc.
These concepts have to be demonstrated with seriousness and at opportune times.
That said, this ad and their first tactic is childish. It's probably more to irritate Kerry than to influence voters - Kerry doesn't irritate. It's a waste of a message and while the press will chase this, they will also find a catchy comeback: McCain was Bush's first choice for VP in 2000. GW Bush was McCain's second choice for President.

Kerry Invoking 'Values' Theme to Frame Issues
By JODI WILGOREN

"CHICAGO, July 2 — Forty-eight minutes into a rambling speech about education, health care, jobs and equal opportunity here the other morning, Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts went off-script to sum up his White House quest in a simple sentence. "In the end it's about values," he told a conference of the Rev. Jesse L. Jackson's Rainbow/PUSH Coalition.

Poor Jodi had to listen to "a rambling speech about education, health care, jobs and equal opportunity".

I recommend the NY Times reassign her to something more exciting than Presidenital politics. Isn't there someone at the Times who might be interested in listening and researching these dull topics?

Cheney *is* Scarface

Tony Montana: What you lookin' at? You all a bunch of f***ing assholes. You know why? You don't have the guts to be what you wanna be? You need people like me. You need people like me so you can point your f***ing fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." So... what that make you good. You're not good. You just know how to hide, how to lie. Me, I don't have that problem. Me, I always tell the truth. Even when I lie. So say good night to the bad guy! Come on. The last time you gonna see a bad guy like this again, let me tell you. Come on. Make way for the bad guy. There's a bad guy comin' through! Better get outta his way!

Whining conservative seeks job as Constitutional expert. Montana edition

HELENA - University of Montana professor Rob Natelson, accusing the Law School of discriminating against him for years because of his conservative political views, has asked the state Board of Regents to overturn a decision denying him the opportunity to teach constitutional law.

It's all about me.

"I am a political conservative," he said in a 24-page supporting document. "To put it mildly, my law school colleagues are not. My views are fairly mainstream for Montana as a whole. I supported Ronald Reagan's campaigns for president and voted for President George W. Bush. I favor school choice, constitutional tax limitation and freedom-oriented solutions to social problems."

“I publicly criticized the extreme activism of the Montana Supreme Court, with which the law school has a relationship too close to be appropriate for an academic institution."

Maybe the fact that he is in such violent disagreement with the current Supreme Court is why he has being denied the position teaching constitution law.

This distinguished professor of law has not cited any student support. Apparently the law students are not rallying to his cause. Students demand a usable education which means they want to learn about mainstream law – not listen to the rants of a personal crusade on the so called "“extreme activism of the Montana Supreme Court”.

All he's doing is publically announcing his political views and crying victim.
